How Your Order Travels

All orders ship from my studio in Newport, Rhode Island. Every package is wrapped in tissue and sealed with care — jewelry is fragile, and yours deserves to arrive safely.

International customers are responsible for any customs duties or import taxes levied by their country. These charges are outside our control and are not included in the shipping fee.

Tracking included on every order. You'll receive a tracking number by email once your order ships. Made-to-order pieces ship within approximately one week — I'll message you personally when yours is on its way.

Returns & Exchanges

Our Returns Policy

I want you to love what you receive. If something isn't right, please reach out — I'll always do my best to make it right.

What's eligible

  • Ready-to-ship pieces — accepted within 14 days of delivery. Items must be unworn, undamaged, and in original packaging.
  • Exchanges — always encouraged over returns. If a size or style isn't working, I'll do my best to find an alternative.
  • Damaged on arrival — full replacement or refund, no questions asked. Please photograph the damage and email me within 48 hours.
  • Made-to-order pieces — final sale. Because each MTO piece is crafted specifically for you from materials I source for your order, we cannot accept returns unless the item arrives damaged.
  • Worn or altered items — cannot be accepted. Please try on carefully over a soft surface before wearing.

Process

How to Start a Return

Email me first

Send a message to hello@mailittlemermaid.com with your order number and reason for the return. I personally read every message and usually reply within one business day.

Pack it carefully

Once we've confirmed the return, wrap the piece in its original tissue and box (or similar padding) so it doesn't shift in transit. Sea glass and shells are delicate and can chip if they're loose.

Ship it back

Return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility unless the item arrived damaged. We recommend using a tracked service — I can't be responsible for items lost in return transit.

Refund issued

Once I receive and inspect the item I'll process your refund within 3–5 business days. Refunds are issued to the original payment method via Stripe.

Frequently Asked

Ready-to-ship orders can be changed or cancelled within 12 hours of purchase — email me as soon as possible. Made-to-order pieces can be cancelled before I've sourced the materials, usually within the first 24 hours. After that, the order is in production and can't be changed.
Yes — USPS First-Class and Priority Mail both deliver to PO boxes within the US. Expedited (Priority Mail Express) also works for PO boxes. International shipping requires a physical address.
Every order is wrapped in cream tissue, placed in a small branded box, and sealed with a wax-stamped card. It's gift-ready straight out of the mailer. If you'd like a handwritten note included, just mention it in the order notes at checkout.
I'm so sorry if that happened. Please email hello@mailittlemermaid.com within 48 hours of delivery with a photo of the damage and your order number. I'll arrange a full replacement or refund right away — no need to ship the item back.
Tracking can sometimes stall for a day or two, especially on international routes or around holidays. If there's been no movement for more than 5 business days (domestic) or 20 business days (international), please email me and I'll investigate with USPS. If the package is confirmed lost, I'll send a replacement at no charge.
Yes — always. If a clasp breaks, a jump ring opens, or a stone works loose through normal wear, email me and we'll sort it out. Repairs on pieces I've made are free within six months; after that I'll only charge for materials and return shipping.
